People I look up to

image

There is really only one person that I have looked up too, and that one is my Mother. She was born in Roda County, Virginia on May 24th, 1919.

The picture above was taken in 1946 showing Mom & my Father. My Father was in the US Army during WWII serving with the 82nd Airborne in France, and Mom was in the US Army as a MSGT over in London during the German Bombing of London, England in WWII. I did not make my appreance until March of 1947. Since, my Father, was never in my Life at all, even though I look just like him, Mom had to do most everything. My Father left just after I was born, so I have no real remembrance of him at all. He was never there to show me anything.

Mom taught me so very much in my Life. She did a pretty good job, despite having to raise me on her own. She was a very strict woman, but very fair in my treatment. She kept a sharp eye on me. Everything from manners to right from wrong, she was there. I still use the many, many things she tried to teach me to this day. The rest of what I know, I had to learn on my own. Sadly, I lost my Mother, at the age of 85 yrs. to Cancer on Dec. 22, 2004.

TV shows I watch

The Discovery Channel
National Geographic
AMC
Fox Sports
and what ever else I find that's interesting.

Who Is This Corker2?

US Navy Veteren 1965 - 1968
Vietnam Veteren 1966 - 1967
Semi-retired Machinist
Spare Time = Reading, Golf, Photography (using my Pentax K100D), and Travel (when I can). image

I totally enjoy taking my Pentax and go "snooping around" different places just to see what's there. I'm still learning allot about just how to use PSPX2. There is just so much. I also have another Digital Camera that is a Sony DSC-H2, but I use my Pentax more than anything. I do have a Blog, if anyone is interested in reading it and what I've had to say, so far . . . . http://ThisIsCorker2.Blogspot.com

Aye, Captain! I have no problem with you wanting to Paint my ole' Destroyer. If you do so, can you make sure that I get a copy of it and how you did it. It would be greatly appreciated.

Flank speed & steady as she goes!

It's nice to read your profile, Corker. image

I had friends in Bluebell, PA, until they retired to CA, and my granddad grew up in Titusville, but that's the extent of my experience with your state.

Follow Chey's advice about learning X2...all of a sudden it will seem much easier. I mainly use v. 9, and have learned a great deal since being here. Always ask your questions...if they're seen, they'll be answered!

We have some super photographers here, too.

    So glad you joined us!

    Hello, Jude

Nice to read that you've commented on my Profile. Thank you for doing so. Seem's that I'm learning that more people are a alot more active here than on other places that I've been. Sorta caught me by surprise.

Yes, good ole' Blueball. Haven't been down in that area since the past Fall. We always go around that area to get some good produce that the Amish sell. It's much better than the stuff you buy in the Supermarket. Fresh corn, honey dew, cantalope, strawberries, and tomatos are some of our favorites.

    Stay well

Hi Corker and welcome to Ravens.

Look forward to your ideas in posts in the future - photos, graphics, images, art - whatever. Have a look at "through the window" as it is great for giving some familiarity with everybody - take a few piccies out the window or in your local area. We are a wide spread bunch and what you think is mundane or normal might be fascinating to someone else.

Nice to see a pic of your destryer too (I was on carriers many moons ago) - boats are always good for pics.

    Best regards,

    John (bosartis)

ps - I might have inadvertantly posted this twice - (I'm not brilliant today) and if so apologies.

This Image of my Destroyer was taken some time while I was aboard. I have no idea where or when, but it's a pretty good Image. I have many, many memories of my years aboard the USS Carpenter DD-825.

Here is another Image that I took while on "Sea Dragon" off the coast of North Vietnam. The USS Sproston DD-577 is right ahead of us. Our Mission was called "Seach & Destroy." Looking for Vietnamese junks that ferried arms across to North Vietnam. Our job was to locate, and destroy any junks that ran from us. On 2 ocassions, we had to fire on and destroy a junk that tried to run. My GQ Station was Left Gun Projectlemen. I was the one who loaded a round that killed all aboard one junk. A long time ago. I was only 19 yrs. old then.
